Adam Frank is an internationally shown artist and truly innovative inventor. His body of work is an ongoing investigation of light and interactivity. This investigation naturally blurs the boundaries between fine art, toys and products for the home.
Adam began his career at George Coates Performance Works, a high-technology theater company in San Francisco. While leading the computer graphics unit at GCPW, he created and performed groundbreaking 3D digital environments and effects which, when projected, interact with live actors on stage.
Adam created Dogz and Catz, The world’s first virtual Petz. Dogz and Catz, interactive, autonomous virtual characters, allow their users the unprecedented experience of actually touching an on-screen illusion of life. For this work he is widely credited for defining a new category of entertainment software. More than 14 million pets have been sold to date.
Adam is currently designing and producing artwork, products and toys that directly utilize his unique expertise in projected environments and virtual interactive characters. He was an artist-in-residence at the LMCC World Views program in The World Trade Center, produced a large-scale installation in co-production with The Banff Centre for the Arts and has received a NYFA grant. At Eyebeam, a new media arts lab in Chelsea NYC, Adam produced an interactive artwork using real-time, autonomous characters. In 2004 Adam was selected to represent the United States in an exhibition at the Athens Summer Olympic Games, was awarded a NYSCA grant and was a Yaddo fellow.
Adam is a professional independent inventor and product designer. He currently has three products about to come to market.
