Decoradar is a new decorative service that creates site-specific murals and installations for interior spaces. They apply the visual and spatial language of conceptual art to decorative painting and design. Founded by two young artists, Elisheva Biernoff and Jen Smith.
Elisheva grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She traded open vistas for elm trees and moved to New Haven to study painting at Yale. After graduating, she taught English in Japan for a year before moving to New York. When not decorading, Elisheva makes paintings that address the cultural constructions of identity.
Jen is from Sarasota, a pretty beach town on the Gulf Coast of Florida. She studied art and the humanities at Reed College in Portland and then at the Slade School in London, where she met Elisheva. Outside of Decoradar, Jen makes installation-based work about hearing and visual communication.
